Rebuilding a Global Streetwear Ecommerce Experience for Performance, Scale, and Operational Efficiency
Culture Kings is a global streetwear retailer known for delivering a high-volume, content-rich ecommerce experience across the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
With a rapidly growing international footprint and a complex digital ecosystem, the brand required more than incremental improvements, it needed a complete rebuild of its ecommerce foundation.
PIVOT partnered with Culture Kings to execute a ground-up transformation on Shopify Plus, creating a scalable, high-performance system designed to simplify operations, improve customer experience, and support continued global expansion.

Culture Kings scaled, its ecommerce infrastructure became a barrier to performance, growth, and regional expansion.
TheChallenge( Culture Kings )
The existing platform carried significant technical and structural debt. A legacy theme and heavy reliance on third-party scripts drove slow load times, introduced instability, and created mounting maintenance complexity. Beneath the surface, the architecture was never built to support seamless multi-region expansion.
Users faced friction at every stage of browsing. Complex navigation limited cross-merchandising opportunities and suppressed conversion, while duplicated gendered SKUs created an inconsistent product experience and added unnecessary operational overhead.
PIVOT approached the rebuild as a systems-level transformation, not just a redesign. The focus was to create a modular, performance-first architecture that reduces technical overhead while giving internal teams greater control over content, merchandising, and site evolution — so complexity no longer compounds with growth.
A Custom Shopify 2.0 Modular Architecture
TheSolution( Culture Kings )
PIVOT rebuilt the entire ecommerce experience on a custom Shopify 2.0 theme, designed around a modular component system that adapts across pages and regions. Complex scripts were migrated into native Shopify Functions, reducing third-party dependencies and improving speed, stability, and performance consistency across devices. A flexible CMS-driven system gives internal teams the autonomy to manage content, build pages, and execute campaigns without engineering support — reducing long-term overhead and enabling faster deployment of merchandising changes.

Navigation, search, and merchandising systems were overhauled to better support Culture Kings' high-volume catalog. A simplified structure and enhanced search make product discovery faster and more intuitive, while strategic cross-merchandising pathways increase exposure to related products. Duplicated gendered SKUs were consolidated into a single, variant-based product experience, reducing catalog redundancy and creating a cleaner, more consistent shopping journey across a mobile-first design built for high-volume traffic.
The new architecture was deployed across the US, AU, and NZ storefronts through a unified system that enables region-specific customisation without duplicating infrastructure. Built with CRO, SEO, and app integrations in mind, the platform is structured to support continuous iteration and long-term growth.

With a fully rebuilt foundation, Culture Kings can now scale efficiently across operations and customer experience — faster performance, better product discovery, and infrastructure built for global expansion. It's a demonstration that real scale requires systems designed for both users and operators. PIVOT continues to partner with leading ecommerce brands to deliver exactly that.
