The development teams powered by Shopify’s commerce platform are making it easier for brands to build creative customer experiences without technical constraints.
In 2016 Shopify introduced sections for Shopify themes. This functionality enhances theme customizations and allows for greater flexibility when customizing your online store. Sections are customizable blocks of content that determine the layout and appearance of different pages on your online store.
Shopify’s themes have two different types of sections:
- Static sections appear in predetermined locations and cannot be moved or rearranged. Examples include: headers, footers, navigation sections, or content sections on pages such as product or collection pages.
- Dynamic sections are optional sections used to customize the layout of the homepage. Unlike static sections, dynamic sections have the ability to be added, rearranged, and removed on the homepage to fit customization needs and to create the page layout.
This year, Shopify announced that businesses will now be able to customize their online store with sections and blocks on every page, rather than just the homepage.
Every year Shopify hosts Unite, a virtual event to catch the latest announcements and updates about their product, infrastructure, and developer tools. This year, Shopify announced that businesses will now be able to customize their online store with sections and blocks on every page, rather than just the homepage.
This update allows developers to effortlessly personalize their stores by adding, rearranging, and removing content without editing code. Sections can now be found on the home, landing, product and collection pages so businesses can gain better control and flexibility when developing their online store with Shopify.
